GKR Karate International World Cup 10

28/06/2019 until 30/06/2019

Marshall Arena - United Kingdom

2019 saw the 10th GKR World Cup come back to the UK and this time it was hosted at the Marshall Arena at Milton Keynes…..

With scorching weather and such a great venue over 750 competitors were ready to ROCK THE WORLD with their karate skills….

Friday evening saw the event kick off with team events which were massively contested. Many teams from around the GKR world competing against one another at the clubs biggest event…

Saturday morning we had by far most people favourite part…..the competitor march in. Each country’s representatives charged into the arena to banging dance music and everyone chanting songs indicative of their nation. Flags flying and feet stomping, it really was a display of awesome the ‘team effect’ that we have within GKR Karate….

One of the most exciting things to happen was the unveiling of our new club badge. It was safe to say that the new design was hailed as a hugely popular one and it’s launch was a massive success…

The rest of Saturday saw our kyu grade division competing for medals. Starting with the younger superstars and going through to our more mature competitors….

Sunday was BLACK BELT DAY!!! Firstly our Junior and Senior Open competitors started the day with their qualifying events. Following this was our veteran black belt events, contested over 6 rings showing that even our older students can raise the roof!!!

Lastly we had our Junior and Senior Open Finals….and lights came down and all eyes were on the 2 rings hosting these events. The atmosphere was electric and all who were there witnessed some epic karate diplays….

Many thanks go out to our officials who did a brilliant job to help the whole weekend run as smoothly as it did.

Also thank you to Shihan Anthony, Shihan Gavin and Kancho Sullivan for making the trip to spend the weekend with us all.
