The UK Central Regional Tournament was held at The University of Wolverhampton on Saturday 1st June 2024.

A message from our Tournament Director Sensei Andy Hawley:

What a fantastic day at the Central Regional Tournament in Walsall! It is always great to see returning competitors and also welcome new faces competing for the first time! A huge thank you to the spectators for their invaluable cheerleading throughout the day – the atmosphere was electric!

We bowed in at 9am and started the events on all 8 rings shortly after. On ring 1, Junior Teams were up first followed by the individual events.  At 10am, it was time for the prestigious black belt open events! We began with the seniors and saw amazing Kata performances from Andrew Jones and Sydney Quarterman which saw them claim the gold. In Kumite – Mike Barrett and Sydney Quarterman took the gold by fighting through tough competition in their respective divisions. The juniors were next up and they never fail to put on a great show! In the male division, we saw Thomas Hodgson take the gold for his Kata and Morgan Grew for Kumite, while Sasha Davies claimed the gold for Kata and Poppy Daniel took the kumite gold in the female division. Across all of the events, it was great to see exceptional karate standard, talent, and skill on display. The camaraderie, cheering each other on and respect shown was also commendable. Well done to all competitors and a big congratulations if you won a medal!  We look forward to seeing you return to compete at our next tournament which is the Central Championships in October.
