UK – Central Championships Results

16/09/2023

The UK Central Championships were held at the Cannock Chase Leisure Centre on Saturday 16th September 2023.

A message from the Tournament Director – Sensei Andy Hawley:

What a fantastic day at the Central Championships in Cannock! It is always great to see returning competitors and also welcome new faces competing for the first time! A huge thank you to the spectators for their invaluable cheerleading throughout the day – the atmosphere was electric!

We bowed in at 9am and we opened the day with Junior Teams and then on to the individual events. On ring 1, we had the Black Belt Opens.  The Juniors were up first and they never fail to put on a great show! In the male division, We saw Aaron Mayes take the gold for his Kata and Morgan Grew for Kumite, while Ava Neno took the double gold in the female division. Next up was the Seniors. We saw amazing Kata performances from Chloe Pedley and Andrew Jones which saw them claim the gold. In Kumite – Mike Barrett and Holly Chapman took the gold by fighting through tough competition in their respective divisions.  Across all of the events, it was great to see exceptional karate standard, talent, and skill on display. The camaraderie, cheering each other on and respect shown was also commendable. Well done to all competitors and a big congratulations if you won a medal and/or qualified to compete at the National Championships at the end of October.
