Combinations

  • All three kihon combinations only use Zenkutsu dachi and are performed without returning to Heiko dachi until the 3rd combination has concluded.
  • All combinations are forward for 6 counts and then 6 counts in the opposite direction at medium pace. This is then repeated at full intensity (with a Kiai on the 6th count of each direction).
  • The first combination will move forward 6 counts and then step backwards for 6 counts.
  • The second and third combinations will move forward 6 counts and then turn (Mawate). They then move toward the back of the dojo for 6 counts and then turn (Mawate) again to face the front.
  • All turns (Mawate) are executed with a downward block (Gedan Barai)
  • When approaching the front of the dojo, the turn (Mawate) is executed as a front-foot Mawate. When approaching the back of the dojo the turn (Mawate) is executed as a back-foot Mawate.
