GKR Karate has been established for over 40 years, with more than 35,000 students training across Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. Our mission is to empower students through self-defence training whilst promoting a culture of non-violence and respect within our training community.

Our classes cater for a wide range of age groups starting from 3 years of age and offers the unique opportunity for families to train together in our ‘Open Age’ classes. Overall, we pride ourselves on creating a supportive environment which includes promoting strong values grounded in tolerance, self-control, humility, and patience.

GKR Karate students enjoy the many benefits karate has to offer. Students, and the parents of our younger students, report improved fitness, confidence, concentration, strength, flexibility, coordination, balance and discipline after starting classes with us. Regular Karate training has also been shown to improve mental health in participants with the added benefit of learning a valuable life skill.

As a family club, we pride ourselves on our diverse community and the enduring friendships that are formed within the dojo. GKR is a karate club that is committed to providing ‘Karate for Everyone’.

I love the discipline that karate training has given me and really enjoy competing in the tournaments! The greater GKR Karate community is so supportive and i'm proud to be a part of it.

My daughter, Sophie, started training at GKR Narellan in October, 2020. Since joining GKR she has strengthened not only her body physically, but her mind, and certainly her character. The Sensai’s encourage her to push herself, celebrate her successes and have taught her to be proud of her accomplishments. Sophie now thrives on smashing her goals, working through challenges and sharing her achievements with her GKR team mates and Sensai’s. Thank you GKR for being part of Sophie’s journey and setting her on the right track to be the best possible version of herself

Love training here!! Great bunch of people, all ages and all levels welcome, well structured curriculum and part of a national club that means you can train anywhere! Love the physical and mental exercise of karate, and the constant striving to be better. Great way to develop confidence, control and determination - skills that you can implement into all aspects of life

A wonderful club that has a family vibe and progress at your own pace philosophy. Instructors are engaging and have a great relationship with the kids. Can't praise the guys at GKR Heathmont enough

Fantastic, supportive, family environment, that not only helps to teach self defence but helps you to develop mentally, physically and socially.

When I brought my Daughter to join the GKR Karate family in 2018 I had no idea that this was meant to be for me. After years of struggling with confidence and my health I was gently encouraged to join my daughter. I was never pressured, always included and so I joined up... and yes I've been grateful ever since. All I can say is, just give it a go!

We train in the same class as our 2 kids (aged 11 and 6). There's not many sports that you can do that with, let alone sports that provide such lifelong benefits and skills for the kids. Training together is something we really cherish and the instructors are fantastic with everyone even though we were total beginners when we started. Getting the kids away from their screens and into the dojo doing something productive, and together, is something ill always be greatful for.
